    Hi All

Lovely to actually see you Vikki and Colin! It sucks you have to wait another week, however at least they are well prepared at the hospital and you know that they will have the correct staff members there etc. Not long to go now..

    Hi Andy

Sorry to hear you have been under the weather, I hope you feel a little better now:-) Hope all goes well 2moro and you get to actually see the Prof!

    Hi all

This is where I am confused (it doesnt take much!). My Mums been told she has to have all of her immunisations, and she must have had these before she can go on holiday abroad.:-|

I do hope that Helen and Tom are feeling a little better, and that Slim is still on the up.

    Hi Pat

The Macmillan nurse at our hospital filled my Mums application in, which was really helpful. She received her badge in less than 2 weeks, and already it has made a difference to our little outings, being able to park nearer to places is great for Mum as shes still very tired post SCT.

    Take care

    Hi Helen

I think, having read all of that and since finding out that you have whooping cough I feel you have every right to have a good old whinge. You must feel drained.

Your memory left with the melphalan? – mine went with childbirth and has not returned yet (waited 9 years so far!).

Can they give you anything for the whooping cough? On the news the other day they said its on the rise.

I read your post about your hols, glad you had a lovely break away, even though you must have felt pretty shite:-P

My Mums doing great thanks (so she says anyway!) has days where shes extremely tired and rests up, but on good days shes brill. Still has the ulcers in mouth but really not as painful and the acid still takes her by suprise, she may not have it for a few days and then it sneaks up on her with a vengeance and there seems no pattern to it, doesnt seem to matter what she eats…but again it gets better week by week. Her hair has started to grow back and she is extremey relieved about that.

We are going to see Jesus Christ Super Star this weekend and out for a lovely meal together, when I booked it in June/July I didnt know if I was doing the right thing, would she be up to it following SCT? Im so glad I did now. Not doing much over half term, Im at work the beginning of the week – will go out for the day somewhere, the kids will make sure of that!

    Take good care of yourself

    Hi Etta

    How are you doing?

Nice to hear that you are getting away – presumably to see your kids in OZ? My mum has been told she cannot go abroad until she has had all her childhood vaccinations again – which will take us to around April next year. Just wondering, how come your hospital has a different policy? Also, Eve and Slim went on a cruise. Have they mentioned vaccinations to you at all?

    Hi Emma

Welcome to this forum that has been a godsend to me for almost a now. Im so sorry to hear about your Mum, and I can understand what you are going through at this time.

My Mum was diagnosed last November (11.11.11 to be exact) I will never forget that date. She was 57. My lovely Mum…. none of us had heard of Myeloma, such a bolt out of the blue. Of course, the first thing I did was google it – big mistake. I then found this site, and as I said its been a godsend. There will always be someone comes along to answer your questions. Someone just behind or just ahead treatment wise.

So, after 6 cycles of RCD (Revlimid, Cyclophosphomide and Dexamethasone) and a stem cell transplant in August, Mums doing really well. She has coped tremendously throughout and although there have been a few ups and downs along the way shes found that its all very "do-able". There really is no other choice other than to get on with it. Just to let you know that you will feel easier about this eventually. Feel free to private message me if you want… go to your profile page.

    Hi Mari

Im sorry to hear Steve is having a rough ride. I remember this stage very well when my Mum was in. It does get better but whilst its happening its not nice for the patient or the "looker on". My Mum asked me not to visit for a couple of days as all she wanted to do was sleep and she hadnt got the energy to talk
    even.

Big hugs to both of you

    Love Ali xx
