Hi Vicki
Sounds like you had a lovely weekend, it will do you both good to get out and about. Stayed out til 10pm – you dirty stop outs! π
Glad you have dates, and yes let us know when Colins collected all those lovely millions of cells.
My Mums doing really good thankyou, except for the mouth ulcers and burning acid. Shes on lots of different things to counter this but nothing seems to be working much. Her appetite is coming back and she has more energy now. Her hair seems to be making a tentative appearance again. Although she didnt lose her eyebrows completely they were very sparse after the cyclophospomide, and they seem to be sprutting abit. She goes to see her consultant in Nov for bone marrow biopsy and the randomisation for the next arm of the trial. Shes abit down at not being able to travel abroad until shes had her imunisations which will probably take her to next March/April 2013. I think her and Dad deserve a break, they had to cancel a Carribean cruise last Dec for my Dads 60th. We are looking forward to a big family holiday next year at some stage, which will be lovely:-)
Better go get ready now, Mum and I are off shopping after kids have gone to school (great to do normal things, we have always done grocery shopping on thurs am:-)
Good luck with it all you guys, im rooting for you!
Love Ali xx
thats great news hope all goes well. We were in clinic this week and Dr Chown told us they are changing the clinic to a Trials Clinic on Wednesday afternoons from next month. Sounds a great idea as other MM sufferers on the trials will all be at same clinic. Geoff's Para Protein level is on way down nicely so hope to get to SCT soon.
Hi Jacqui
That's interesting. At the moment Colin doesn't go to a regular clinic because he's now for the elusive SCT. We used to go once a month on a Thursday. It will be useful because we can all swap notes! Glad geoffs pps are going down , the RIGHT direction!

Ali,
So pleased to hear that your mum is doing well. It's a real shame they can't conquer the acid and mouth ulcers. They do seem standard fare so you'd have thought someone might have come up with something very effective by now. Glad to hear your mum might be growing some hair, that must be a good sign….and even better that she feels like eating and going out and about a bit. sorry to hear mum and dad had to cancel their hols. What immunisations are they talking about? General ones or specifically somewhere in the world?
We were talking about holidays tonight…..we still can't imagine going too far for a long time, but you can have aspirations. Mine are Maldives, Mauritius or Sri Lanka. We can dream for now. It will be so great for you and the family to have a big holiday, you all deserve it.
We just need to get on the SCT route first!
Have a great weekend and hope you enjoyed the shopping with your mum

Hi Vicki
Thanks for listening to my little moans!
The immunisations are the childhood ones – like a newborn baby ( Polio , diptheria, tetanus and such like). Its funny as my baby nephew is having his at the moment! They are to start 4 months post SCT – so that will be December. Shes to have 1 set everymonth for 3 months. Her consultant was adamant not to travel abroad until shes had the full course, so of course Mum will do as she says.
Your holiday choices sound wonderful Vicki, we can all dream, and when Colins recovered from SCT – why not?:-) (after his jabs, of course!) I dont know if different hospitals give different advice?.
Hope you have a lovely weekend and Colin is feeling not so tired.
Love Ali xx
Hi Ali & Vicki. I am now 4 months post SCT and no one has mentioned immunisations. My next appointment is next week so I will ask then. My holiday aspirations are a little closer to home and I am really hoping to have a holiday to the Greek island with extended family next summer. Missed out last year so fingers crossed all will be well for next summer. Ali, glad your mum is doing well. If I remeber correctly she is a little behind me with her treatment..Vicki, I really hope all will soon be happening for Colin. Xx
Hi Jacqui
Yes, my Mum had her SCT 1st/2nd August. How are you feeling now? May I ask about your hair, has it made a re appearance yet? and if so could you describe it?
The Greek islands sound lovely, seems you have the same sort of idea as us. We just want a couple of weeks having fun in the sun, relaxing and being together:-).
Mum and Dad would have liked to go on a cruise over New year and when she asked her consultant thats when she said about the immunisations. Mums also booked in for her flu jab (having checked with the Consultant first).

Hi Vicki & Colin
Hoping everything is going well.
All the best from Andy & Steph lazing in the Greek sunshine xxx
Hi all,
We've just been catching up with all the posts. Ali, first of all it's no problem to hear your updates……nothing is ever a moan. It's so good to know that there is life after SCT! With this weather anywhere would be great wouldn't it!
Andy, it's so great to hear that you and steph have got away…abroad as well. Very brave but so glad the weather and sunshine is doing you both good! I seem to recal you are in kefalonia!. We went there about 3 years ago, maybe a bit more, and the weather in the main was the worst they'd had in 30 years! We have some pictures of us on the sun loungers with duvets over us! (we rented a villa!). When the sun did shine though it was beautiful. All going well, touch wood. Off to see the SCT nurse tomorrow. Have a great time and raise a glass for us π hope you get to Greece jacksprat :-). It is lovely.
All the best

Hi Vicky
Just checking in to see how you are both doing? Hope everything went well with your SCT nurse yesterday:-) I know you dont want to tempt fate by giving dates and stuff and I completely understand. But, just to let you know I am thinking of you.
Love Ali xx
am on that same stage as you Ali letting the two of them knmow i also am thinking about them π
Love that Onwards Man Lol xxxxx
Hi Ali and Tom π
We are still here, and good to know you are thinking of us!. All well with the SCT nurse yesterday. Again very helpful and informative. Getting our heads around it again…..we almost know those consent forms off by heart! I am still not going to put those dates down, as I don't want to tempt fate, but god willing when those little cells start flowing out you guys will be the first to know :-).
To give you a clue, we are trying to pack a lot of things into this weekend, as maybe next weekend colin won't be as well.! Its a really small world, but a friend of a friend of my mums has been going through the same treatment as Colin and if all goes well for him, and Colin they will be in having their SCT at the same time!
Hope you guys have a good weekend planned, and Ali hoping your mum is making good progress. Taking toms advice, onwards and upwards. Colin and I need to find an outbreak of morale, get our chins up and face this damn thing, come hell or high water!
There's a lot to be thankful for π

Hey Vicki and Colin
Am sure you will find the resolve to get that Moral breakthrough we all need at the time of treatment Clin is going through, I found it and am sure Colin will, As for the head/chins up if thats a wee bit hard at this time I would go with a head down and a good "Shoulder Charge" it works just as good I aslo had to use that one when I was weak π and as you know it worked π
You two aint fighting this Darn thing on your own you have all of us MM'ers routing for you both π
All the best and it will come through.
Love and Hugs to you both
