    Hi Dawn

My Mum and Dad have very recently used All clear and got a good deal on an annual policy, covering Myeloma for Mum. Sorry I don't have contact number, you could google it.

    Hope it helps

I'm having a real struggle with insurance companies, I've been phoning everyone on the list that Myeloma UK provide plus others that I find along the way. I'm looking for world travel.
We have travel insurance included with our CoOp bank account, it is underwritten by AXA. But you know anything could happen with the CoOp bank at the moment!
With my current state of health, remission, AXA are ok to insure, but I've been trying to get a second opinion, just in case.
I get some very conflicting results, even with specialist insurance companies, some of the premiums are colossal, others just won't insure.
So, best of luck, with that project. Please let us know your outcome, I'm sure that others on the forum will be interested to know how you get on. Likewise as soon as I get a positive result I will do the same.
    Regards
    Tony F

    Ps. Most positive was Now I Can Travel 0845 2 307 155.
Even got refused by Saga!! haha.

Hi Dawn – totally off topic but was reading your previoous posts where you mention educational material to help/ease the mind live in the present. I have just ordered the Candace Pert book – Molecules of emotion and you put in a link to a reference of EMDR – is there a good book you got that covered this topic? Would be interested in any books/cds you ahve found beneficial to living with MM. Thanks Rebecca

PS Don't want to sound like a stalker but when I see new oeople posting I lkie to view their journey (becoming slightly obsessed with MM at the moment and want to back track away but finding it hard)

    Hi Rebecca

I didn't get any books specifically to emdr however I do understand that this technique is used for service personnel suffering with post traumatic disorder

I can provide a list of resources I've used over the past years to help me cope with this journey mentally!

Here's a couple to begin with
Web sites patient power, Margaret's blog, ecancer, myeloma beacon

    Books
meaning medicine and the placebo effect Daniel moerman, Darren brown tricks of the mind, the power of positive thinking Norman Vincent Peale, wherever you go there you are (mindfulness), anti cancer a new way of life David servan, 59 seconds Richard wiseman, the cancer survivors companion Lucy Atkins, everything you need to know… Candace pert, beyond fear Dorothy Rowe, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy trisha Bartley, my American dream dr Maria miller,

Recently been researching budwig's diet, , anti-inflammatory foods and here's a link ref an article coming from American cancer society

    Hi Dawn,

We have also used All Clear, as I am in remission with Myeloma, and were pleased with the deal we got.

    Their contact number is: 0845 250 5201.

    Good luck with it all,

    Steve.

    Dear Dawn,

Forgot to say that it's cheaper to buy annual insurance rather than single trip.

Also, don't always go for the cheapest deal, as there are sometimes hidden clauses and the amount of cover is not always as good with cheaper companies.

All Clear offer a very comprehensive cover, with an unlimited number of trips during the year.

    Best wishes,

    Steve.

Hi Dawn, We are considering a holiday to Greece when my treatment, I am presently on 2nd line treatment Velcade, is finished, end of September.

My wife has worked in insurance for 30 years and at present works part time (10 hours a week) at an insurance broker.

Regrettably she sees all to often the disastrous results of people trying to get "good deals".

    Her advice would be.

    A. Get both your Consultant and your Doctor to agree that you can do want you want to do.

    B. Ask the Doctor for a print out of your Medical Record and then ask him to cross out the items you do no need to declare.

    C. read EVEY line of the policy document document you are sent and if you do not understand it ask the Insurance Co to explain it.

We use a Company called City Bond. they are not the cheapest but they cover everything we need.

    Enjoy your hols

    Kindest regards – vasbyte

    Hi Dawn

My husband has MM and we used world First Insurance, sadly we had to make a claim on said insurance as Peter relapsed and the consultant stopped Peter from travelling as he had to start new treatment immediately. We were travelling to Dubai to visit or son and his wife and their newly born twin sons.
We are still trying to get a refund on Peter's plane ticket, the problem is with the flight company, Emirates. They are refusing to issue a cancellation invoice to us. Their policy states that they will keep the ticket open for a year for Peter to travel, they will not transfer said ticket to myself. World First have refused to help us, although they do tell us that if and when we get the cancellation invoice they will more than likely pay out.
The saga rolls on and on……………

    Hi all

Wishing you all the best with your travels…..are any of you travelling when not in remission? Colin and I didn't go anywhere other than to a friends in Cornwall for a few days and that was frowned upon by the trial team!!! Now Colin is in remission we are too scared to go anywhere!
