    Hi Andy,

thanks for your reply. I see a respiratory consultant at the end of the month but this cough has been going on for a while and no-one seems to know why. Last explanation was that it must be the cancer irritating the lung.

Nice to know that drugs can do it as well although SCT appears to be the preferred way.

    Keep, keeping on

Thanks for you reply. Other people  on the forum seem positive about the treatment too. Tendacy towards, at the moment, but will see. Im 61 so not much difference there, on my 5th cycle.

    hi Keith.

I interested in your experience of SCT. I have just fininshed cycle 4 CDT and dr says I should think about SCT or not. It seems to involve being in  hospital for 3 weeks and a harsh chemo.

I,m pretty much the same as far as the stats. The only one my consultant seems to be considering is the paraprotein and getting it as far as possible down. So at present I’m just taking my cue from him.

Thanks for replying mavis. I have had breaks . Where I work I am afraid of picking up certain items because I feel they are on the edge of my weight lifting thresh hold. It would make a difference to me to have the confidence to pick them up, with care, without too much worry. I guess it may be a bit of trial and error. I have only just started on them and the nurses don’t seem to want to say too much about it.

I did mean infusions into the blood.

Thanks to the replies. Mine isn’t due to nerves and doesn’t go. I might get a bit of respite if I cough something up but it soon comes back. And it started before the drugs as well.  I dont think its going so I will have to learn to live with it.

Back from infusion of Zoledronic acid. Painless really, just sat in a chair while saline and the zoledronic dripped in. Took more time than necessary today because i should have bloods done before hand. Am told will only take an hour next month.

The infusion should help to fill in the holes in the bone so reducing the risk of breakage. Staff really nice, cups of tea and coffee while infusing. Cakes as well but as I have Coeliac disease I had to recline.

Side effects include flu like symptoms and bones aching to begin with but in the end get better.

    Hi Chris,
As far as the hiccups is concerned I was told to take the Metoclopramide tablets I have for sickness and nausea. These really helped if you have them too.

The in fusions as ,I understand it, are to strengthen the bone. (1.30pm today).

Let you know how I get on.

    Hi Chris,

thanks for posting. I’m a newbie and its good to see someone else at a comparative stage.

I’m 60 and my story’s pretty much the same. Ribs going, vertebrate breaking and initially thinking osteoparosis.  On second cycle of CDT at the moment, due a blood infusion tomorrow.

Nice to see that someone else posting got the hiccups. That was the worst for me as my chest was sore to begin with.

Not heard of the stem cell bit. It would be nice if these infusions get me walking well .

A  problem I have is the emotional side. I keep wanting to cry. My Dr has arranged a bit of counselling for me.

    Best wishes

    John
