    Dear Bridget

Roll on next Wednesday. I can't imagine how just one dose of RT can zap the pain. I wonder how it works? Mind you, it doesn't matter how as long as it does. It is so good you are so very positive – I'm sure this helps.

Am still thinking and praying for you lots.

    Love Mavis xx

    Dear Sarah

I am so sorry that things are piling up in such an aweful way for you while your grief for Gordon is so raw.

You are strong and you will get through. What a good job you and your son can support one another.

Just had a strange experience – twice when I tried to post with a couple of other comments it said "your message contains inapproprioate material", but I'm sure it will be Ok to say take care.

    All love

    Hi Gina

So sorry this year is getting worse for your Mum and the family. It does sound as if your Mum is getting worn out with MM, the side effects and the treaments. I do hope tht her lungs do clear to give her some relief. If they don't it may be you will need to face a decision from her not to have any more streatment. I agree with Bridget – you do need to be getting support from the MacMillan or other Specialist Nurses.

Do let your Mum know that we on this site are rooting for her.

    Very best wishes.

    Dear Alison

Welcome to the site from me too, but sorry you have to join this elite club!! Good to hear that the dialysis and drugs have worked to get you to a plateau. I wouldn't worry too much about not being advised to have a SCT at the present time. There are in fact Trials going on in America at the moment to compare SCT against other treatments. With the new drugs coming on stream you have a good chance of beating this horrible MM back without resorting to what, for you, might be such a high risk treatment.

Do keep in touch and tell us how things go.

    All best wishes.

    Dear Bridget

I do hope they arrnge the RT for very soon and that it really does the trick. I am glad you are so positive about it. I just feel so cross you are in so much pain – it seems indecent in 2011 that we can't get on top of it.

You are one special lady! Hold in there and look forward to the dancing!!

    Much love.

    Hi Min

Just to let you know that I too will be thinking of you and praying for you and the family later today. I do hope that Peter's service will bring you some comfort and the hope that this world is not all there is and that death does not have the final word.

    Much love.

    Hi Paul

This is an "oldy" of 66yrs answering a post on the fifties strand! Having just picked up your posting i also wanted to welcome you, sadly as it were (!) to this great site.

It's good you have been given Revlimid as part of the Trial as it is supposed to be very good for a front line therepy. I read lots of stuff on the Myeloma Beacon and Myeloma Foundation Web sites. Although American I find them very helpful. I think it is important to learn as much as you can about this dread MM as everyone is so very different and so are the views of the Consultants.

I am obsessed with para protein levels as I am trying to stave off any chemo at the moment. Do you know what your level was/is?

Do hope the drugs work wonders for you and jolt you into a verty long remission.

    All best wishes.

    Dear bridget

Just thought to say – do dose ourself up well with painkillers before the radiotherepy or it will kill your back. I didn't find my radiotherepists very symathetic. I hope yours are more so and that it works quickly for you.

    Love.

    Hi Bridget

I'm so gutted that you are having such an aweful time. I can understand tears – with so much pain you feel so out of control. I remember being there a year ago. I am so glad that the McMillan Nurses have made some useful suggestions and help is at hand.

I feel very wild, I listened to an Amnerican Webcast about Pain, a few weeks ago. I was thinking of you at the time. Annoyingly I can't find it again, but I will keep trying as the Nurse Practioner gave a very good acount of how different types of pain need different drugs. She was saying that opiates are not effective with certain types of pain. Certainly i have been there. I really feel for you because it is going on so long.

I can understand your feelings about a Hospice, particularly after Gaye's passing, but they do seem to have the expertise and staff and time to help in severe pain. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

    Much love and many pryers.

    Hi Amelie

So pleased to hear that John got his dream because you worked so hard for it. Keep dreaming and making dreams come true.

Best wishes to you both. May you have much time together.

    Hi Dai

I had been thinking of you today and wondering if you got off on your holiday. I'm so glad you have. I do hope that when you read this on your return you will have had a very well deserved break and come back to fight both the MM and the system and knock them both for six!

    Very best wishes.

    Dear Min

Like everyone else, I am shocked that you have lost Peter so suddenly. I know we all thought he would pull through yet again. This terrible MM had been particularly unkind to him. At least you can take some comfort that his fight is over and all the horrible things that go with the attempted cure.

Now it is you and the family who are the important ones. It is what Peter would have wanted. I will be thinking abouit you in these next difficult days and trust that as you sadly plan his funeral it will be a celebration of Peter's life and his courage over the past two years. You have given all that love could give – know that Peter's love is always part of you.

God bless and keep you close.

    Love Mavis x

    Hi Gill

So sorry your PN is so bad. Do hope some of the suggestions here help. It's one of the things I dread as I have something similar following nerve damage through one of my hip operations. I find Reflexology helps. Although sometimes a bit painful during the treatment it does seem to get the circulation going. I wonder how Dai got on with his new toy – a circiulation device. I also have one of these which did help a bit.

Do hope you get some relief soon and that the Pain Specialist is able to help.

    Bast wishes.

    Mavis
